Q.

How can I start the exam?

Depending on how your institute has set up the exam, you will either receive an email with the access link or find it in the learning platform of the institute. Note: All exam registrations are done by the institute responsible for the exam, not by PRUEFSTER.

What is a system check?

To ensure that no unexpected errors occur on the exam date, we check the compatibility of your tech-setup before you get access to the exam. This process is called a 'System Check'. Note: System checks can be disabled by the exam provider so that you have direct access to your exam.

When can I start the exam?

Exams may have time restrictions outside of which they cannot be started. If you attempt to open the exam before the set start time, you will see a countdown counting down to the start time. Note: Not all exams have time restrictions.

How and when do I get my results?

PRUEFSTER does not have access to the content or results of exams. Note: The content of exams is managed exclusively by the institute responsible for the exam.

Do I need a mobile device for my exam?

For exams with high security requirements, institutes may enable a second camera with which you film your environment. In this case, you will need a mobile device (smartphone/tablet) to be used as a second camera. A note on how to connect the mobile camera will be displayed whenever this is required. Note: Not all exams require a second camera.

Which browser do I need?

Our monitoring can be performed using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. Note: Microsoft Edge is only compatible with the Chromium-based version from 2020 onwards.

What about the internet connection?

You need a stable internet connection to stream your video. Your internet connection is checked in our system check, you can also check it at any time in a speed test, for example on speedtest.net. Note: There should be at least 1.0 MBps upload available to ensure a stable streaming.

Can I run the test on a company device with restricted access?

You need the permission to share the microphone, camera and screen content on the device you are using. Note: Very restrictive firewalls can block unknown websites, make sure you have the permission to access all websites.

Which operating system is supported?

There is no specific restriction on the operating system. It must support the required browser and the access on microphone, camera and screen. This applies to all popular versions of Windows, MacOS and Linux. Note: In the case of technical issues affecting the operating system, we can only provide very limited support for Linux.

How will I be identified when I start the exam?

Most exams require identification with a valid identification document. By default, ID cards, passports, driver's licenses, and residence permits are accepted (including temporary versions). Note: The exam provider may define different rules for identification for its exams.

Which material is allowed during the exam?

The material permitted for an exam are defined exclusively by the responsible institute. You can view a list of approved materials at any time during set-up and exam. Note: Please remove all non-approved materials from your desk for the exam.

Where is the data processed and stored?

Your data is processed entirely within the European Union. Our platform is hosted in data centers in Berlin and Frankfurt in Germany. If you choose to send invitation emails, your data will be processed by a subcontractor in the Netherlands. Note: Other systems may be used by the institute to provide online exams in addition to video surveillance, which process your data independently of PRUEFSTER.

How long are the recordings stored?

The institute responsible for the exam registers, manages and deletes all exams in the system provided. PRUEFSTER has no influence on the time limits applied by the institute for deletion. Note: The recording of audit monitoring is optional for the institute, not all audits are recorded.

Q.

Which data will be processed by me?

Depending on the configuration of the monitoring chosen by the institute, your name, email address, audio and video recordings of your webcam and mobile device, as well as your IP address will be processed and stored. Note: PRUEFSTER is not a data controller and therefore cannot answer data subject requests in the sense of the GDPR. We forward them to the institute responsible for data processing.
